ACL was all it could have been and a bit more. The Pixies put on the second greatest show I've seen, right behind Radiohead. The Roots played a bajillion minute version of "while my guitar gently weeps", and most everyone else I saw exceeded my expectations.
I see elizabeth in less than five days. hooray! i'll return with pictures.
I'm doing two drivers ed drives a week. I drove with Riane Williams today. I hadn't seen her in a really long time. She's a highway driving superstar. Good job.
I watched The Celebration. The first produced Dogme 95 film. It's really amazing and it gave me unsettling dreams. Highly reccomended. |

| | Portishead - All Mine (live in NYC) | ] | This first month or so of school has been all over the place. The first day, I was determined I would hate ISA...by the end of the week it was tolerable. Now I like the teachers pretty well, and the classes are enjoyable. I do hate (most of) my classmates. Met this guy Nick...in instrumental music and a few of my classes. He's a funny guy.
Anne let me borrow her Michel Gondry dvd. It's so good I want to die.
In case anyone doesn't know already, Elizabeth and I are for the reals (yo) on the long distance relationship. I couldn't be happier.
Cinema is cool. I'm not sure if I consider Millender much of a teacher, but she's sure as fuck not a prick like ozuna. I'm making a documentary about people waiting in line at different locations. It should be fun to shoot...hopefully I'll also get to make that epic short film idea about gay guys and episcopalian churches.
Going to austin city limits music festival this weekend. i can't wait. im excited like a little puppy. If the pixies play "vamos" I will soil myself.
I have a new favorite song: "Neighborhood #1 (tunnels)" by the arcade fire.
Lyrics include: "And if the snow buries my my neighborhood And if, my parents are crying then i'll dig a tunnel from my window to yours a tunnel from my window to yours"
how cute. |

| | Kate's Mix for Me :) | ] | im happy
It started in an interesting way...I was looking through my TIP term books listening to this wonderful compilation a wonderful girl made for me. And i started to read the autographs i got from all my friends and counselors...it reminded me of some of the amazing times i had there. not just there but all over the place...and at that exact moment the choir singing "you can't always get what you want" comes on....and for some reason it just perfectly complimented the mood that i was in. i started to smile a big smile and sing along. i remembered the very long walk back from a denny's like restaurant called Perkins while i was there. it was something else. something that makes me very happy to think about now.
i thought about my first girlfriend. if you could even call her that...we did at the time...so that counts enough. that was the sixth grade. i couldn't believe someone would find me interesting enough to go out with me. how great i felt in that moment. those moments. talking to her on the phone. a new thing at the time for me...then, her juvenile impulses caused our breakup. sad? at the time yes. it's humorous to look back on it now...both of us are very different people now. i still talk to her from time to time. she's still a very cool gal...
this is just the start to all the wonderful experiences ive had.
i hope that im able to add to these in the next year. i hope that im able to remember these wonderful times, and i hope that people might share them with me. |

| | The Beatles - Mean Mr. Mustard | ] | when boiled down to their essence, all things are beautiful...just something to take into consideration.
i realized, tonight, how beautiful emotions are, in general, and how raw they can be...i guess that's one reason i want to make films so badly...why i enjoyed 21 grams so much...why i can listen to hardcore music, and not laugh...and most of all, why im so optimistic.
next time someone gets mad at you...get to a better state of mind and then look at things from the perspective that beauty is found in all things...reframe, and see how fucking amazing what just happened really was. |

Did you know you were going to shoot off the top of a four year old girl's head And look across her car-seat down into her skull And see into her throat and did you know that her dad would say to you, "Please sir, can I take her body home?" Oh wait, you totally did know... that that would happen Cuz you're a jock who was too stupid and too greedy And too unmotivated to do anything else but still be The biggest and still do what other people tell you to do You did it to still be a winner You shot your grenade launcher into peoples windows and Into the doors of peoples houses why should I care if you get killed?
